The Romanian National Red Cross Society in partnership with the Moldovan Red Cross Society is implementing the project “Proactive Health Initiative: Building a Healthier Future Together, Project code: ROMD00480”.

The Romanian National Red Cross Society in partnership with the Moldovan Red Cross Society is implementing the project “Proactive Health Initiative: Building a Healthier Future Together, Project code: ROMD00480”, in the period June 1, 2025 - November 31, 2026.

The project has a total value of EUR 443,400.51 (of which EUR 399,060.45 is eligible non-reimbursable funding from Interreg co-financing and EUR 44,340.06 is eligible non-reimbursable funding from the national budget), with funding provided by the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration, as the Managing Authority for the Interreg NEXT Romania-Republic of Moldova Program.

The main objective of the project is to facilitate access to healthcare and strengthen resilience in vulnerable areas through cross-border collaboration aimed at improving the healthcare system in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

Outcomes:

Over 3,300 vulnerable people in disadvantaged rural areas, particularly in the cross-border peripheral region between Moldova and Romania, will benefit from mental and physical health assessments through the Healthy Communities Campaign, which will support local authorities in providing the necessary assistance to elderly people.
Over 2,000 vulnerable people who will benefit from medical services through the Health Caravan activity.
Over 60 volunteers who will be trained to effectively implement future health campaigns and activities in both Romania and Moldova.
Over 30 participants from the Republic of Moldova on a study visit to Romania.
Over 80 participants from both countries in health education seminars.
Over 30 participants in the Cross-Border Panel.
